Northeast Brazil Calendar 2011

We visited the indian reservation of Potiguara's, at Bahia de la Traicion, Paraiba, Brazil, at just 50 km from Joao Pessoa city, with our model Michele, in order to show you their habitat and daily lifestyle.

The potiguaras are an indigenous group inhabiting the northern coast of Paraíba, along with the limits of Rio Tinto, Baía da Traição, Marcação and Ceará. Potiguara people speak a language Tupi-Guarani. The great Indian reservation in the municipality of Baía da Traição. It has a population of over ten thousand Indians, divided into twenty-four villages spread over an area of over three hundred acres of ecological reserve, of which fourteen are of pristine beaches. The reserved area, offers a beautiful setting, where the rainforest, rivers, lagoons and estuaries, blend with the traditional culture of local Indians, forming a unique context, an anthropological relic, where nature, indigenous culture and its conflicts with the colonists, are still strongly alive and preserved.
In the Tupi-Guarani, "potiguara" equals "shrimp eater," for this reason, several descendants of the tribe of potiguaras adopted, to be submitted to Christian baptism, surname Shrimp, the most famous of the combatant Felipe Shrimp.

Plan your vacations for December, January and February while you enjoy the beauty of these models.
